a photostudy: andrew

i recently had the privilege of shooting a roll of film with my good friend andrew. he very patiently was the subject of maybe an hour's worth of photographs. here i present andrew, in living color.

thank you, andrew.

a query

i had a few pictures [two] left on a roll in my ricoh from forever ago [see "summer: another backpost".] i found some sunflowers on concord st that wanted to be photographed, so i obliged.
i'm not sure which one i like better. the portrait one i think is more about the flower with no distractions, just brown and blue. i think i did a good job of showing the dead flower with that one. the landscape photo has something, though, that i really like. any input?

beauty-fall

i love maine in the fall. i love the trees and the breeze and i love wearing heavy sweaters. i love being on the water in the fall, feeling the wind on my face and salt in the air. as interpreted by k.t. Strasse, i present to you, moste proudly, "fall."
for the following pictures, i used asa 160 slide film "velvia" and had it cross processed and printed with negatives.
the portland skyline a bit before sunset. quite a dramatic effect.

my second attempt at a panorama. i'm pleased with the results:

summer: another backpost

fresh rain. i really like the colors and lighting in this one.

i spent an afternoon lounging on the rocks at the east end with sean and sarah.

we made rock piles. i didn't get the depth of field quite right in this one. i'll have to do better next time.

my summer: sailmaine. liz briggs, lounging in the office before the start of a hot summer day.

blackbird summer

back in june, i shot a roll of film with blackbird fly, but i didn't take it out of the camera. instead, i just forgot about it entirely. recently, i picked the camera up and realized there was a roll of film in it. it was pretty exciting getting that mystery roll developed, there are some good pictures on it.
franco on a hot summer day.

joe beagle, getting ready for a bath. when he looks like this, i always want to call him smudge.

this is jim. we went to boat school together. he's pretty cool.

sarahbear's kitchen. remember there was one picture left and i was just going to rewind it? you said 'no, you should take it!'

hoorah for new cameras!

i like using my pentax. i really like taking photos with it. it seems like whenever i have it with me, there is something to be photographed. i proudly present roll number 2, taken 10/10/09.
i started my day around eleven with loading a new roll of film into my camera. the sun was shining into the window, and the plants were begging for attention:

theres something about the brick wall on the left leading to the boat that i really like.

an old post for an old camera??

the title doesn't make much sense, but i just found a photo to backpost: it's from the same roll as the nightphotos.
if you look really closely, in the bottom of the frame, in the center/right, i'm in the picture. this is where i work:

this was supposed to be part of the panorama, but the stitch program i have didn't want it to be in there, so now it is a lone foto:

a new post for a new camera!!

i recently (yesterday) bought a new camera. actually, an old camera, but it's new to me. i got a Pentax K-1000. it's pretty exciting, i like it oodles. i spent most of the day on tuesday taking photos and eating thai food. most of the photos feel a bit uninspired, i think because i need a subject. there are a few ok pictures.

this is my favorite one off the roll. this cat was in the west end, just waiting for an impromptu photo shoot. she was super friendly and wanted to hang out.

self portrait in a dark window. katie was entirely uninterested, which is my favorite part of this picture.

BIRDS!

heres to new cameras!

a little night foto?

back in early september, i went to fort williams with a one mr. jesse lindley. we were there from maybe nine to eleven. it got pretty cold by the end of the night. i took several pictures, one and one half of which came out.
two lights. i really like this one.

this was taken from the forts to the left at the first parking lot, overlooking the beach. from top down, you can see clouds, treeline, beach, jesse, me, and the water.
