a query

i had a few pictures [two] left on a roll in my ricoh from forever ago [see "summer: another backpost".] i found some sunflowers on concord st that wanted to be photographed, so i obliged.
i'm not sure which one i like better. the portrait one i think is more about the flower with no distractions, just brown and blue. i think i did a good job of showing the dead flower with that one. the landscape photo has something, though, that i really like. any input?

    why? what makes you like the bottom one more?
    i like them both, they are both well balanced.

    i like them both, i enjoy the simplicity of the top one, but i like the bottom one better because the blue in the sky is more vibrant, and i think the telephone lines in the background make the composition more interesting.
